Sharing from Johnny Caupert — You think there is a lack of class and sportsmanship in High School sports? I'm proud to say it's alive and well.
Tonight, my Waterloo Bulldogs hosted the Herrin Tigers in football. Class, class, class acts by both football teams. They chose to enter the field at the same time, side by side, Herrin player next to Waterloo player. They have tributes to Trooper Hopkins on their helmets. They carried American flags. They carried Illinois State Police flags.
The sportsmanship and class act was complimented by the Herrin Tigers football team, donating a check to the Hopkins family in the amount of $2000.
Sportsmanship and class are alive and well. Let's see it continue, not only for the remainder of this game, but into the forseeable future.
